First Peoples Leading — NEXT GEN

Two young women

Course Overview

Emerging leaders or people starting out in their career often have the talent and drive for success, what they may lack is the confidence, resilience and networks they need to step into their potential.

Being in the workforce as a capable First Nations person brings with it an array of pressures and expectations from employers, family and self. You may be the only First Nations person in your team or organisation. Perhaps you are the first in your family to go to university or hold a job. Not only are you expected to be good at what you do, but also represent and be a voice for First Nations perspectives, and a role model for people in your family and community.

The program is delivered online via live video stream and is uniquely engaging experience. Delivered over 4 weeks, the program is centred around 4 x 2 hour workshops, comprehensive self-directed e-learning resources and mentoring.

This is an interactive and participatory program and an opportunity to develop long-lasting connections and powerful professional networks. It is guaranteed to have a positive impact on participants.

Program features

Acknowledgement of Country

We pay our respects to Elders and community leaders, and those leaders that came before us, who for millennia have maintained the world’s oldest surviving cultures and who have made it possible for us to do what we do. We acknowledge the strength and innovation of our young people, the leaders and Elders of the future.

We acknowledge our families, who have always supported us to dream big and who continue to support us as Thirriwirri evolves.

We also pay respect to the non-First Nation people we work with who share our vision for an empowered, prosperous and culturally assured First Nations Australia.
