An empowering leadership program that builds confidence, resilience and skills of aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders.

Course Overview

Emerging leaders or people starting out in their career often have the talent and drive for success, what they may lack is the confidence, resilience and networks they need to step into their potential.

Being in the workforce as a capable First Nations person brings with it an array of pressures and expectations from employers, family and self. You may be the only First Nations person in your team or organisation. Perhaps you are the first in your family to go to university or hold a job. Not only are you expected to be good at what you do, but also represent and be a voice for First Nations perspectives, and a role model for people in your family and community.

The program is delivered online via live video stream and is a uniquely engaging experience. Delivered over 4 weeks, the program is centred around 4 x 2 hour workshops, comprehensive self-directed e-learning resources and mentoring.

This is an interactive and participatory program and an opportunity to develop long-lasting connections and powerful professional networks. It is guaranteed to have a positive impact on participants.

Program features

  • Our FPL micro-credentials offer a unique value that differentiates us from other programs

  • Culturally Relevant Curriculum: Developed with Aboriginal leaders who have lived experience, our program reflects Indigenous leadership values: consensus-building, connection to Culture and Country, and long-term vision. This culturally grounded approach sets our program apart.

  • Skill Development & Micro-credentials: Participants gain practical skills in team behaviours, communication, and priority management, all while earning micro-credentials that validate their expertise to employers.

  • Ongoing Learning Opportunities: These micro-credentials can be applied towards further education and career development within the FPL program, providing a clear pathway for continued growth.

  • Supportive Learning Environment: We foster a strong community where participants connect with other First Nations leaders and mentors, building a network for ongoing support and collaboration.

I found the Next Gen course to be incredibly insightful and valuable. I’m very appreciative of the opportunity to be a part of it, and also the opportunity within my position to highly recommend within our organisation that further NASCA staff be referred to engage in the training.” — Jenna Moss, NASCA

Build leadership across your organisation

When multiple team members progress through FPL programs together, you create a powerful multiplier effect.

Your team develops a shared leadership language, common frameworks for communication and collaboration, and a unified understanding of purpose and values.

This collective foundation strengthens team performance, improves workplace culture, and accelerates the impact of your leaders at every level.

Whether you're looking to upskill emerging leaders or develop your management team, we work with you to find a solution that meets for your organisation's needs and goals.
